Windmills are certainly part of the solution. Windmills, like bicycles, are beautiful in their simplicity and efficiency. They’re two of mankind’s perfectly elegant inventions that energy engineers and designers should keep in mind in developing new energy production. A commuter-cyclist uses around just 1 percent of the energy required by a typical modern automobile. If we would all ride a little more and drive a little less – what a profound difference it would make, in many different ways (health care, air quality, congestion, dependence on foreign oil/national security, etc.)

Hello bill and david, always attend your emails. Really feel angry about huge rv’s pulling huge suv’s—and who cares about gas!!–let it go up to $12–the hell with it–we’ve got the money. these people just don’t want to pay attention. they’re excluded from any climate problem….
Your ride to wash. d.c. sounds terrific. we’d love to come along but have to work. we’ll be there with you in spirit.

We think about you guys all the time. The little movie clip we did in Wintrop, Wash was just a stroke of luck. Safeway in Seattle with Dave wasn’t bad either. Thanks for keeping us abreast of what you are doing in bringing about awareness of climate change.

Because of global warming there's no fish to catch? How sad. But Yellowstone region is a nice place to catch fish but it is not advisable in hot summer time. -Macky Bugay

Dave and Bill,

I thought you would be interested. Today, my parents are hosting a press conference at their farm about the impacts of global warming in Wisconsin. There was a lot of flood damage in Vernon County in August from extreme rain and they will show some of that damage at our familyâ€™s farm.

Keep up the good work. Great to see you both made it to CA healthy and happy!

On Wednesday, Clean Wisconsin will release its report, Global Warming Arrives in Wisconsin, and announce the operation of its Global Warming Hotline. You guys are awesome! As you know from your reference to the child from the Zuni reservation–what you say has an impact. It may not be today or tomorrow, but maybe next week or next year, and something clicks for that person. I am the “green sheep” at church. I have shared information on sustainable practices there for years. It’s not unusual for someone to tell me that something I said helped them make a change in their lives (maybe a year or more later). We just keep leading by example and education. The more people hear, the more likely they will be to get it.

Hi guys!
Beautiful ride! Looking through your site right now, stumbled across it while looking up a bike ride a co-worker and I did a couple times back in the 80′s.. The Tecate to Ensenada” bike “race”, you may know that one.

Then somehow I got to yours. Watched a couple of your videos, the on e where you crossed the border after getting your passport, and they didn’t even check you out. Interesting how you stayed at a Mexican family’s house.

Hope you don’t have any bike problems.

Hi David, sorry I missed your talk in Hillsboro.

First time poster, Portland resident, bike advocate and trying to learn to live simply. I think what you’re doing is marvelous, and keep up the great work!

I just wanted to quickly point out one thing – we also need to encourage people to use other methods than flying when possible. 5% growth doesn’t sound like a lot, but it actually means that air travel will double in only 14 years. Every change we can institute, no matter how small, is helpful, but the big change – encouraging people not to fly unnecessarily, that could go a long way towards mitigating the effects air travel has on the planet.
